Weekend I-405 Northbound Closure

From 11 p.m. on Friday, September 27, until 4 a.m. on Monday, September 30, the northbound lanes between North Southport Drive/Sunset Boulevard Northeast (Exit 5) and Coal Creek Parkway Southeast will be closed. A signed detour route will be in place, so be sure to plan ahead.

This closure is part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes project, which aims to alleviate one of the most congested corridors in Washington State. With commuters frequently facing frustrating delays, this project will add much-needed capacity by introducing a two-lane express toll lane system between Renton and Bellevue.

The enhancements include an additional lane in each direction and a new dual express toll lane system that will improve traffic flow and connectivity with existing transit options. Once complete, this project will integrate with the broader express toll lane network, extending to a 40-mile system that supports the upcoming I-405 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line.
